Recap Special Events in 2017
Here we are starting the new year of 2018. As I sit here and write this Blog I have such a strong feeling that this year -2018 is going to be a great year.
I am starting this blog at the end of 2017 and then I will go back and pick up significant happenings in the early part of the year. Sounds crazy I know but that is the creative part of me talking.
December 13, 2017
I had a hip replacement surgery. I went to the gym three times a week from the middle of November until December 12 to get my body in good shape for the surgery. I started out with water aerobics and then worked with a personal trainer to limber myself up for the surgery. I have had trouble with my left hip for so long that I was walking in a way that was pulling my whole body out of whack.
Since my surgery I have been recuperating. In the three weeks going on four I have graduated from using a walker to using a cane. I spent Christmas with my daughter's family in Blackfoot, Idaho. We had a wonderful Christmas. There were 9 adults and 6 great grandchildren. We unwrapped tons of presents amid laughter, eating and playing games. Every evening we watched an episode of "Band of Brothers" while the little ones fell silently to sleep.
Amidst all of this activity I had time to read two really Good Books. These books are the type that make you feel like if they can do what they did then I can do better in my life.
'I'LL PUSH YOU: A JOURNEY OF 500 MILES, TWO BEST FRIENDS, AND ONE WHEELCHAIR, AND THE CHALLENGE OF A LIFETIME. by Patrick Gay & Justin Skeesuck
This is a story about two friends who had been friends their whole life. Justin had s neuromuscular disease that made it so he could not use his arms and legs. When Justin spoke about Camino de Santiago, A 500 mile trip through Spain. Patrick stated " I'll push you"
QBQ! QUESTION BEHIND THE QUESTION: PRACTICING PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
This book is about how we use questions to blame other people about the problems we, our organization, or business are facing rather than using questions to help solve the problem. This book is full of thought provoking information. I am still reading this one.
A lot happened in 2017. We had a family reunion the early part of August at our place in eagle. There were approximately 30 people in attendance. We have a family reunion every other year. This brings a closeness to our family.
Over Thanksgiving weekend we again met in Eden, Utah. my family rented a home and we came together to celebrate my 80th birthday. I felt so honored by my children. They showcased my life. I am blessed with such a great family. I thank you all for what you do for me and what you bring into my life.
