GRANDMA GRAPES READING CORNER

Have you heard of having a "Reading Corner" in your home. You might be asking what is a reading corner, it’s a special area designed to create fun and warmth when reading aloud to your children. A reading corner can and will support your idea of reading aloud to your children. This is a picture of my reading corner.

I am very excited to announce that I have established “GRANDMA GRAPES READING CORNER” for the purpose providing parents with videos on YouTube, Facebook and other social media. My goal is to record the reading aloud of picture books, both my own and other author’s to give parents and children access to Reading Aloud experiences. Taking the time to Read Aloud to your children is one of the most important activities you can do to build their literacy and background knowledge.

You might be wondering where the name Grandma Grapes Reading Corner came from. Let me tell you the story behind the name. It was the fall of 2006, My daughter, her three daughters, and my first and only great-grandson were canning peaches. As we worked we talked about what Ryder, my little Great Grandson, should call me. We finally decided upon the name of Grandma Great. That seemed like a good name so we tried it on for good size. Well as it turned out he couldn't say great and so he started calling me Grandma Grape. Now as the saying goes ‘The rest is history’ all of my great-grandchildren call me Grandma Grape.
