Jylene Morgan is Coming to Your Town

I am siting here at my desk, looking out my window at the rain coming down and thinking about my journey through the writing process This is a very exciting time for me. Since I retired from the Blackfoot School District in 2001, I have been writing stories from my past. If you have not already check out my blog Series Life Behind the Scenes and “I remember”.

My first book was titled “There Was a Moose on Clifford Street.” I remember the day Hailey come running into my school were I was the principal and declared “There Was a Moose on Clifford Street.”

And then I went on to write about our adventures the summer we took care of a bighorn sheep bummer lamb.. In 2017 I wrote and published “BUMMER, Our Pet Bighorn Sheep”. Both of these two books were self published.

A couple of years ago I attended an Idaho Writers Convention in down town Boise. While there I met Tom Reale the President and COO of Brown Books Publishing. We meet over lunch with a small group of people. Through visiting about where we were in life and where we are going, we began to bond as colleagues. I was very impressed with Tom as a person. Later I had a one on one session with him to pitch the book I was writing.

Time passed after the conference and I built up my courage to call Tom. That stated our conversing back and forth. Finally a year ago Brown Books Publishing Group accepted my manuscript of BUMMER and the Nanny Goat. On June 1, 2021 this book became a reality and I became a member of the Brown Books family.

This has been a fantastic year of my growing and learning as an author. It was so enjoyable working with Tom Reale and the Brown Books Team. I am so grateful for all the wonderful support I have received during this process.

Now I am moving into the Marketing phase. Brown Books has a sales force that will be doing the marketing to many of the corporate offices and independent book stores across this great country of ours, Myself and my publicist Peggy Washburn will be directing our marketing locally. I use the term locally in a very broad sense of the word. My meaning of locally extends from Boise to McCall through Sun Valley down to Challis and over through eastern Idaho, Blackfoot, Shelley, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and to tell you the truth everything in between. And then next year we will start with my second home Playa del Rey and the surrounding Los Angles area.

Just let you know this what we are planning so far for McCall:

  • Thursday July 15th at 1PM at the Payette Dream Coffee House

  • Friday July 16th at 10 AM and 1 PM at theMcCall Library Elementary Summer Reading Program (with the goats)

  • Saturday July 17th from 10AM to 2 PM at the McCall Farmers Market

We do have other possible spots as well that we are working on.

We are just getting started so if you want us to stop by your area please contact us immediately. Because I am passionate about the power of “Reading Aloud to Children”, I love doing Story Time and also enjoy presenting to parents.

I am really excited that Dani from One More Book Mama will be reading my books on her youtube channel. Stay tune for date and time not that.
